Abel Talamantez Mendoza, the youngest of 5 brothers of Reynaldo and Rosario of Pecos, Texas, was put into the music scene at a very young age since his brothers and sisters, Ray, Ramona, Esmi and Maria Elena, have their careers in the music business.. In 1991 Abel entered the famous youthful group, Menudo, where next to Adrian Olive, Ashley Ruiz, Andy Blasquez and Alexis Grullon they began to raise the image of this group. With the production "Detras de Tu Mirada" the group seemed to have started on the right foot. With all of the traveling, concerts and fans that Abel was exposed to, Abel seemed to very much enjoy the success that the group had now attained.  Months later, the group decided to record an English single which they called "Dancin, Movin, Shakin."  They also recorded a music video for this single in New York City.  One year later, the group recorded the album "Menudo...15 Anos" in honor  of the 15 year of existence for the group Menudo.  At that time, one of the members, Adrian Olive, decided to leave the group.  A few months later, Ricky Lopez (Ricky 3) took the place of Adrian in the group and then the group recorded the album "Imaginate... Menudo."   They also recorded "Cosmopolitan Girl "," If You're Not Here" and then an album in Portuguese which was titled "See Pra Mim".  In 1995, Ricky Lopez left the group and in 1996, Ashley Ruiz also said goodbye to Menudo.  This is when the group received two new members, Anthony Galindo and Didier Hernandez.  They joined the group to record the last album under the name Menudo.  This album was entitled "Menudo...Tiempo de Amar."  In 1997, Andy Blasquez left the group and Daniel Rene Weider took his place to begin the new era that they would call MDO.  MDO was the name that Abel, Ashley and Alexis used when they would refer to the group to talk about the group while talking amongst themselves.  That is also the name under which they released the single "Cosmopolitan Girl."
After much success with this new era of MDO, the group began to play a larger part in their album productions. Not only singing in the albums, but also contributing many lyrics to songs on their albums.  This album went PLATINUM in only 28 days!  Abel could not hide his excitement.  He thoroughly enjoyed the success that MDO was having since he was the first member of this era of the group.  Months later arrived a magical moment for MDO where the Coliseo Roberto Clemente witnessed the complete success of MDO during their first concert in Puerto Rico.  Abel, Didier, Alexis and Anthony showed us that MDO Mania still existed.  With the release of the remix "Groove with Me Tonight," the group brought themselves to a whole other level.  The group seemed to have much airplay in even the American markets.  In the year 2000 with MDO's image completely renewed, Abel, Alexis and Didier welcomed two new members to the group, Pablo Portillo and Troy Tuminelli.  With these two new members, MDO released their third album "MDO...Subir al Cielo."
In that same year, MDO also celebrated the 25th anniversay of Menudo at the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo.  In the 2001 after the Troy Tuminelli left the group, MDO found a new member, a Puerto Rican from Wisconsin, Caleb Aviles.  MDO then traveled to Asia with the release of their first English album, "Little Piece of Heaven," that was only released in Asia.  After some time, MDO then released a Greatest Hits album entitled "MDO Greatest Hits, 5th Anniversary", which was a compilation of the groups' hits.  Then in 2002, the group had their farewell concert in the Centro de Belles Artes in Puerto Rico.  This was the end of the era of MDO. 
In 2001, already a father to Juliette, Abel had his second child, Angelina, with Marie Grillasca.  Marie had appeared in one of MDO's videos called "No Puedo Olvidar."  In 2003, MDO released their final album as MDO on the Sony label.  This last production of MDO was an acoustic CD that contained acoustic versions to many of MDO's Hits. This album was called "MDO Acustico."  Since that time, Abel has been preparing for his solo career.  And his fans still continue to follow him.  During this time, Abel has also been working as a choreographer where he has been able to display his talent and love for Hip Hop at an international level by giving many dance classes all over Latin America.  I wish the best of luck to Abel with all his future endeavors, may success and happiness follow him wherever he may go.
